The Wakeham Trust has now closed for new applications until January
2015. We still exist, and we will go on doing the same things as we have
done since we started up in 1975. We support small, struggling community
groups that don't employ staff, that make a really difference in their
area, and that are too small to attract the attention of mainstream
funding bodies; and projects in schools and universities that promote
outstanding teaching and high academic standards. We think these are
important things to do, that find it hard to finance themselves from
other sources. However, we are entirely run by volunteers. We need to
re-write our administration and computer systems, and to move our
bulging filing cabinets to a new home. We just don't have the resources
to cope with that, at the same time as handling new applications. We are
really sorry about that, but it is the only way we can manage the
transition. We do not want to spend too much of our limited income on
administration. That makes no sense, when the grants we make are
